Wio brings digital banking to the UAE

Wio Bank PJSC, the UAE’s first platform bank, partnered with Mambu to build a digital-first banking business from the ground up. To meet strong demand for mobile banking in a market where many SMEs were still underserved, Wio needed a flexible, composable core banking platform that could launch new products quickly, integrate with best-of-breed partners, and avoid the limits of legacy systems.

Mambu provided Wio Bank PJSC with a cloud-native, API-first composable core, supported by Microsoft Azure, enabling rapid implementation and modular product delivery. With Mambu, Wio launched SME banking in seven months and retail banking in 14 months, reached profitability in its first full year, surpassed 200,000 customers, and grew to an AED 37 billion balance sheet by 2024, with up to 15,000 new accounts opened each month.
