Case Study: Grameen America scales operations and halves loan transaction time with Mambu

A Mambu Case Study

Preview of the Grameen America Case Study

Grameen America creates opportunities for entrepreneurial women

Grameen America, a nonprofit that provides microloans and financial education to low‑income women entrepreneurs, was held back by a custom, cash‑based gBanker legacy system that was not scalable and relied on manual, error‑prone processes. To expand nationally and improve transaction efficiency, data integrity, auditing and mobile accessibility, the organization chose Mambu’s cloud‑native SaaS banking platform.

Mambu ran two pilots (Puerto Rico and Sunset Park) and a nine‑month national rollout, delivering a cloud platform with open APIs that enabled 100% digital disbursements/repayments and rapid third‑party integrations (e.g., replacing Wirecard with Prepaid Technologies in under three weeks). The implementation cut loan transaction time by 50%, increased the caseload benchmark by 25% (from ~400 to 500 borrowers per center manager), reduced branch staffing needs, improved fraud detection and auditing, and helped Grameen America become more than 60% financially sustainable.
