University Of Central Lancashire Masters Malware

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), a top 3.8% global university, launched an Enterprise Mobility Project to equip traveling faculty with Surface tablets, but its McAfee-based security couldn't stop malware on devices with user administrative rights. Users experienced poor performance and interruptions as infections rose across a growing mobile fleet (from 20 to 600 tablets, expanding to 1,500).

UCLan deployed Malwarebytes Endpoint Security (Anti‑Malware, Anti‑Exploit and the Management Console) on the tablets; malware incidents and user complaints stopped, re-imaging and remediation dropped to almost zero, and there have been no ransomware incidents. The Management Console gave visibility into attacks, enabling data-driven best practices and delivering greater confidence and peace of mind for the university’s mobile security.
