Danforth Center deploys sustainable defense against malware and ransomware

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center is a nonprofit research institute in St. Louis that brings together international scientists to improve crop productivity and sustainability. Its open, collaborative environment and constantly changing user base made it hard to balance researcher access with security; a single malicious email click once encrypted more than a terabyte of data and exposed the need for stronger endpoint protection.

The center deployed Malwarebytes Endpoint Security (managed through Dell KACE) as an additional layer alongside its existing antivirus. Malwarebytes provides real-time detection and removal, blocks malicious web requests others missed, and delivers a management console for proactive monitoring. The result: no repeat ransomware infections, faster containment and cleanup, at least a day per month saved in remediation work, and stronger protection without restricting researcher access.
