Kiehl’s measures offline sales impact with Making Science, driving 30% of digitally influenced sales in stores

Kiehl's, a skincare brand under the L'Oréal Group, sought to measure the return on investment of its digital campaigns on offline, in-store sales. The brand partnered with vendor Making Science to implement a solution that would help them measure the impact of digital media on physical store traffic and optimize their media mix.

Making Science, in collaboration with Google and others, implemented an NFC-based technology solution called 'chypeo' in Kiehl's Madrid stores to track in-store interactions. They ran parallel digital campaigns, and by crossing this data, they confirmed that digital efforts drove offline results. The results showed that digital campaigns directly influenced nearly 30% of sales made in physical stores and impacted 13% of in-store buyers, proving the measurable impact of online media on offline performance for Making Science's client.
