Spatial Dynamics Improves and Speeds Up Product Design Cycles With Makerbot Method X

Spatial Dynamics, a design consultancy founded by Rhode Island School of Design alumni, relies on 3D printing throughout its product development work. The team used MakerBot tools (including METHOD X and a Replicator Z18) to prototype consumer and medical devices, but before METHOD X they struggled with inconsistent FDM precision, failed prints, and time‑consuming rework—issues that threatened deadlines and made complex internal geometries and heat‑set insert features hard to validate.

MakerBot solved those problems with the METHOD X platform, MakerBot CloudPrint, and materials like MakerBot ABS‑R and RapidRinse support. Spatial Dynamics now produces dimensionally accurate, mechanically testable “white glove” prototypes and complex functional parts that used to take weeks in just days or hours, cutting reprints and outsourcing needs, speeding iteration cycles, and giving the firm a measurable competitive edge.
