Smiletronix Uses the Makerbot Method X 3d Printer for the Development of Its Oral Devices

Smiletronix is a dental startup that develops innovative oral health devices and needed faster, more precise prototyping with high-quality finishes and engineering-grade materials. To accelerate design iterations, protect IP, and move away from costly outsourced fabrication, they selected the MakerBot METHOD X 3D printer from vendor MakerBot to support functional prototypes in materials like ABS and Nylon with Carbon Fiber.

MakerBot delivered a plug-and-play solution—METHOD X with an actively controlled 110°C build chamber and Stratasys-derived technology—enabling automated, reliable prints and minimal operator time. As a result, Smiletronix brought prototyping in-house, increased prototype throughput, shortened design cycles, and cut anatomical model costs by up to 80%, while preserving design security and gaining flexibility and speed for product development with MakerBot.
