How Montclair Public Schools Deployed 3d Printers District-wide

Montclair School District, a New Jersey K–12 system of 11 schools serving 6,625 students, needed to modernize curriculum and scale STEM learning district‑wide without leaving teachers to become 3D‑printing experts. To build a consistent, reliable program, the district partnered with MakerBot to introduce a district‑wide network of desktop 3D printers and educator resources (MakerBot Education and Thingiverse Education) that could be used from elementary through high school.

MakerBot implemented a fully supported solution in 2015, supplying hardware, curriculum (MakerBot Education, the MakerBot Educators Guidebook, and Thingiverse Education), training, and administrative tech support so schools could print reliably and integrate lessons quickly. The result: 13 3D printing solutions deployed across all 11 schools, 3D printing in grades 2–12 district‑wide, and program reach to 6,625 students—providing continuity, measurable scale, and practical STEM experience thanks to MakerBot’s support.
