CoCreatex Takes 3d Printing and Entrepreneurship on the Road

CoCreateX is a mobile innovation center and maker community of more than 1,500 collaborators that brings entrepreneurship and STEM education on the road. Facing the challenge of inspiring students, supporting distributed prototyping, and turning community ideas into marketable products, CoCreateX equipped its bus with MakerBot Replicator+ desktop 3D printers to provide reliable, on-site 3D printing and hands-on design experiences.

MakerBot’s Replicator+ printers enabled rapid, classroom-ready demos and functional prototyping during road trips from Minneapolis to Boston — for example printing a bus cookie cutter (0.2 mm layer height, 30% infill, 46 min print time, 12.21 g material) and a working prototype lid-with-spoon that led to paid work for brands like Legendary Foods. Using MakerBot hardware, CoCreateX packed schools with students, deepened community engagement, and converted volunteer projects into revenue-generating design jobs.
