Becoming an Everyday Brand in Your World with MakerBot

Scrub Daddy, led by founder Aaron Krause, makes the smiley-faced Scrub Daddy sponge and needed to accelerate product innovation and expand its product lines without the time and cost of traditional injection molds. To bring prototyping in-house, Scrub Daddy purchased a MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printer from MakerBot so its engineering team could rapidly iterate designs.

Using MakerBot’s Replicator, Scrub Daddy prototyped hundreds of ideas—mops, holders, personal care items and machine parts—and an engineer was printing within an hour of setup. MakerBot helped cut prototype timelines by 80%, saved the company “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in mold and opportunity costs, supported the launch of new products (including the Scrub Daisy), and enabled more than nine product releases in five years.
