Practice-based Evidence in Nutrition (PEN) is a global knowledge translation tool for dietitians that began as a small Canadian database. The customer needed to scale its platform to support thousands of users worldwide, which required a complete infrastructure overhaul, a redesigned UI/UX for different cultures and devices, and integration with various international membership systems. MAKE Digital was engaged to manage this complex, multi-year project and ensure global compliance with security standards.

MAKE Digital rebuilt PEN's infrastructure on Amazon AWS, implemented a new brand identity and a multilingual UI/UX, and developed a custom content management system. The solution included performance enhancements for regions with slower internet and a robust support agreement. As a result, PEN successfully transformed into a stable, secure, and globally accessible platform used by thousands across numerous countries, facilitating international collaboration among dietitians.
