A Maintenance Connection Case Study

How the City of Orlando Got Rid of Paper Work Orders for Good

The City of Orlando’s Water Reclamation Division, serving a population of more than 250,000 and operating three plants that process about 36 million gallons daily, faced a mission-critical challenge: managing 1,000+ daily work orders and parts requisitions with a paper-based system across 110+ square miles. That manual process risked lost documents, slow approvals, and delayed responses that could affect water and sewer services for residents.

The city implemented Accruent’s Maintenance Connection CMMS, digitizing work orders and parts requests, adding mobile field access and SCADA integration, and automating approval workflows. The result was faster field response, better visibility into asset history for preventive maintenance, fewer errors and miscommunications, and a greener, more efficient maintenance operation.
