MaintenanceCare Dramatically Improves Maintenance Workflow and Safety Issue Management at Kensington Health Care Centre

Kensington Health Care Centre, a 350‑bed not‑for‑profit long‑term care facility in downtown Toronto, faced an inefficient, paper‑based maintenance process (17 hardcopy work‑order binders) that caused slow response times, poor tracking for safety and quality improvement, and extra administrative burden. To address these issues they evaluated and adopted MaintenanceCare, a fully hosted, web‑based maintenance management application that could integrate with their existing PointClickCare system.

MaintenanceCare automated and streamlined the legacy workflow, delivering work orders electronically (including alerts to technicians’ mobile devices), scheduling preventive maintenance, and enabling asset tracking. As a result, Kensington saw work‑order capture rise from about 90 to roughly 250–300 per month, shortened maintenance cycles, faster access to reliable online maintenance data, easier reporting (integration with PointClickCare’s QIA module), and improved monitoring of safety and service levels. MaintenanceCare also removed the need for local infrastructure and manual counting, freeing staff time for resident care.
