A MailGuard Case Study

Bakers Delight - Customer Case Study

Bakers Delight, a bakery franchise with more than 700 locations across four continents and a 40-year history, suffered a significant cyber incident in 2006 when the Bugbear worm bypassed their server-level antivirus. With a small, multi-skilled IT team unable to fully manage email security, Bakers Delight turned to MailGuard for managed email filtering and advanced email security.

MailGuard implemented a seamless SaaS email-filtering solution (no infrastructure changes — MX redirect to MailGuard’s servers) that scans and quarantines malicious mail, using blackhole lists, a weighting system and Bayesian profiling to block spam, phishing, ransomware and BEC. The result, according to Bakers Delight, has been “an incredible amount” of threats stopped, noticeably less spam and server-log “garbage,” reduced network congestion from large attachments, and ongoing protection from fast-breaking zero-day email threats — allowing the IT team to protect the distributed network while the business focuses on baking.
