How Cap n’ Cork Manages 15 Locations While Staying a Fan Favorite in the Community

Cap n’ Cork is a Fort Wayne, Indiana–based retailer of beer, wine, spirits and cigars with 15 locations and 135 staff. Their biggest challenge was maintaining consistent store operations and scaling beyond a legacy, single-person custom system so the business could survive management turnover and continue to grow. To address this, Cap n’ Cork implemented Magstar Inc’s retail management, ordering and reporting software in July 2017.

Magstar Inc replaced the fragile, one-person-dependent system with a multi-user platform that fine-tuned ordering and automated reporting. The change moved ordering from one centralized buyer to five category-specific buyers, delivered nightly activity reports for faster oversight, and improved chain-wide consistency and collaboration. The result was a dramatic improvement in ordering accuracy, real-time management visibility across 15 locations, and greater operational resilience as the company scales.
