Case Study: Voetbal International achieves faster publishing and subscription growth with Magnolia CMS

A Magnolia CMS Case Study

Preview of the Voetbal International Case Study

How the oldest football magazine in the Netherlands used Magnolia in hybrid headless mode to publish fast and win more revenue

Voetbal International (VI), the Netherlands’ oldest football magazine, needed a digital platform that could handle breaking sports news: extreme peak traffic, fast editorial workflows, heavy personalization and a developer-friendly architecture. Their existing tools couldn’t deliver the speed, flexibility or content reuse required to stay first with news and grow subscriptions.

VI and implementation partner info.nl adopted Magnolia CMS in a hybrid headless setup and customized Magnolia’s Stories app to give editors full control over rich, reusable stories while exposing REST APIs for new channels. They replaced a rigid paywall with a metered “try before you buy” VI PRO model and added personalized content recommendations. The result: consistently faster publishing and reliable peak performance, a 35% rise in PRO page views, about 3,000 new account registrations per week, growing subscriptions, better engagement and happier editors and developers.
