A Magnet Forensics Case Study

Preview of the City of Redding Case Study

City of Redding - Customer Case Study

The City of Redding Police Department's High-Tech Crimes Unit faced significant challenges in mobile forensics, as smartphones were a primary evidence source in most of its cases. The unit struggled with encrypted devices, evolving apps, and the time-consuming manual correlation of data, which often led to case backlogs. To address this, they utilized Magnet Forensics and its product, Magnet AXIOM.

Magnet Forensics implemented Magnet AXIOM, which allowed examiners to process mobile images from other tools and combine computer, smartphone, and cloud artifacts into a single, integrated solution. The software's ability to create a holistic evidence timeline and its monthly updates for new artifacts helped investigators find more data and overcome encryption challenges. This resulted in more efficient investigations, with the unit able to discover critical evidence faster and reduce its case backlog.
