Elgin Breeding Service Migrates to uniPaaS RIA

Elgin Breeding Service (EBS), a respected bovine semen collection company founded in 1954, faced the challenge of modernizing a 15-year-old DOS-based Magic client-server application to a Rich Internet Application (RIA) on the uniPaaS platform. The migration required careful conversion of online screens, batch processes and business logic, a complete UI redesign for Windows, and moving from a proprietary Btrieve database to a standard relational environment.

Magic Software conducted automated analysis and mapping, used conversion utilities to migrate the application to uniPaaS RIA, and converted the Btrieve database to MS‑SQL. The approach reduced conversion time and errors, addressed ambiguities, and combined automated tools with certified project management and testing; the project was completed on time and on budget, delivering improved stability, faster delivery and a single vendor responsible for the platform.
