The International HIV and AIDS Alliance improves adherence support for 5 million young people with MadeByPi

The International HIV and AIDS Alliance (ihaa) faced the challenge of supporting HIV-positive youth in Sub-Saharan Africa, where a lack of personal technology and infrastructure made tracking treatment adherence difficult. They partnered with vendor MadeByPi to develop a mobile application solution, ReadyPlus Online, to digitally empower their community-driven support system.

MadeByPi created an app that used gamification and avatars to engage users, allowing support workers to record sessions and track adherence data offline. This data was then uploaded to a dashboard to identify trends, such as a specific issue with medication taken on an empty stomach, enabling the program to implement targeted solutions like providing school breakfasts. The solution improved the efficiency of support workers and provided measurable insights into the challenges faced by beneficiaries, ultimately helping to improve health outcomes.
