Case Study: Elemental Machines achieves scalable, high-volume temperature sensor production with MacroFab

MacroFab is producing thousands of temperature sensors for Elemental Machines that will cover projected demand for the upcoming year.

Elemental Machines, a technology platform that optimizes laboratory operations, needed a manufacturing partner to scale production of its environmental sensors after prototyping growth exposed capacity and engineering limits with its incumbent contract manufacturer. The startup had been using the MacroFab platform for prototyping (its largest MacroFab run had been 275 units) but required a partner that could provide engineering support, build a functional tester, and handle larger production volumes reliably.

MacroFab stepped in with its platform, engineering design services, and North American manufacturing network, working with a third party to build the required functional tester, performing validation testing, and moving validated temperature sensors into full-scale production. As a result, MacroFab is now producing thousands of temperature sensors to cover Elemental Machines’ projected demand for the coming year, enables volume flexibility with no minimum commitments, and has prompted Elemental Machines to plan production transfers for four to five additional sensors.
