A MacroFab Case Study
Leading North American Construction Company, operating a keyless security brand for commercial real estate and recently acquired by a Fortune 500 company, faced a major production bottleneck when COVID-19 disrupted its Taiwan-based contract manufacturer. Frequent engineering design changes required real-time collaboration that the 14-hour time-zone gap and long travel made costly and slow, so the company engaged MacroFab for North American electronics manufacturing, rapid prototyping, and production support.
MacroFab implemented a roadmap that paired U.S. rapid prototyping with a cost-competitive Mexican production facility, enabling engineer-to-engineer collaboration in the same time zone and eliminating expensive overseas trips. As a result, MacroFab now produces thousands of units of one SKU with plans to ramp a second, matched Taiwanese pricing without the engineering-change anxiety, significantly reduced production risk, shortened iteration cycles, and removed minimum-volume commitments so the customer can move faster from prototyping to scale.
