A M2SYS Technology Case Study

Preview of the Iraqi Kurdistan Province of Sulaymaniyah Case Study

Biometric system for Iraqi border patrol security

M2SYS Technology worked with the Iraqi Kurdistan Province of Sulaymaniyah, a government border control authority in Iraq, to address slow, manual visitor registration and serious security concerns at border checkpoints. Before the project, agents recorded travelers by hand, spent 15 to 20 minutes per registration, and lacked a reliable way to verify identities and prevent insurgents or terrorists from entering.

Using M2SYS Technology’s AFIS/ABIS biometric identification system and Bio-Plugin fingerprint technology, Sulaymaniyah Province automated border check-in across 100 fingerprint terminals and a web-based management platform linked to the main datacenter. The solution centralized a database of more than one million biometric templates, increased staff productivity by 70%, reduced paperwork, and improved border security and citizen safety, with plans to expand to 400 terminals.
