Houston-based U.S. Concrete, a top-10 U.S. ready-mix producer with about 3,200 employees and a fleet of roughly 2,500 vehicles operating in 12 states, faced a high collision rate (about 172 incidents per year) and rising claims costs. Its existing safety program couldn’t reliably identify or correct the risky driving behaviors driving those costs.

U.S. Concrete implemented the Lytx DriveCam program — phased pilots, windshield event recorders, a dedicated review team, and driver education/Q&A sessions — to capture and coach on risky events. Within a year the company cut collisions by 30% and claims costs by 65%, used video to exonerate drivers when appropriate, and shifted from managing processes to actively managing and improving driver behavior.
