Case Study: First Transit achieves significant collision reduction and improved driver safety with Lytx DriveCam

First Transit significantly reduces number of collisions with the Lytx DriveCam safety program

First Transit, a transit operator serving airports, universities and paratransit with a 10,000-vehicle fleet carrying roughly 300 million passengers, faced safety challenges in dense urban environments—most notably a high rate of sideswipe collisions—and set out to raise its safety performance across the network.

First Transit deployed the Lytx DriveCam program fleetwide, used monthly reports to identify the top 20 riskiest and safest drivers, and instituted positive coaching and recognition. The program significantly reduced collisions (especially sideswipes), improved seat-belt use, produced driver exonerations after some incidents, cut fuel use (about 12% savings), and strengthened driver focus and safety culture.
