VCA Animal Hospitals, a nationwide network of more than 1,000 hospitals with 30,000 associates, faced high rates of compassion fatigue, burnout, anxiety and depression among its caregiving workforce and found its legacy EAP difficult to access and insufficient. Lyra Health implemented a zero‑barriers program of evidence‑based therapists and coaches, 24/7 sign-up and matching, and company‑paid sessions that later integrated into VCA’s health plan for continued care at low cost. The results were dramatic: an average wait time of 2 days for a first appointment (versus 25 days nationally), 9 in 10 VCA employees improve or recover with Lyra (compared with 4 in 10 nationally), and 91% satisfaction among members.
