Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Successfully Migrates Hundreds of Interfaces and Embraces Visual Programming

Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, a university health center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, needed to replace its aging Oracle eGate HL7 integration engine after Oracle ended the upgrade path. With hundreds of interfaces supporting high patient volumes across a large regional health system, the team required a modern interoperability platform that could keep pace with ongoing growth and changing health IT needs. Lyniate’s Rhapsody was selected as the replacement product after a careful evaluation of 92 criteria and reference checks.

Lyniate implemented Rhapsody Integration Engine, enabling Penn State Health to migrate several hundred interfaces smoothly and safely, with rollback capability by keeping two server sets in place during transition. The migration accelerated from one interface at a time to 10–20 interfaces at a time, with no problems reported, and the visual programming environment made ongoing adjustments fast and intuitive. As a result, Penn State Health could more easily connect disparate EHR systems, onboard acquisitions like St. Joseph Regional Health Network, and keep up with new interface demand arriving weekly or daily.
