A Lyniate Case Study
Oregon Health Authority, the public health agency serving Oregon, needed a better way to receive electronic laboratory reports in a timely and efficient manner. The organization faced inconsistent message formats from multiple sources and transport methods, limited IT infrastructure, and challenges with Meaningful Use test message validation and up-to-date syndromic surveillance data. Lyniate’s Rhapsody integration engine was used to address these data exchange and surveillance needs.
Lyniate implemented Rhapsody in 2008, connecting 105 data streams and processing 15,000 messages per day. The solution enabled accurate real-time public health reporting, improved receipt of electronic laboratory reports for disease surveillance, supported near real-time emergency department monitoring across the state, and allowed de-identified lab reports to be sent from the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory to the CDC for enhanced influenza surveillance.
