SCL Health addresses social determinants of health through transportation

SCL Health, a nonprofit healthcare system serving low-income communities in Colorado and Montana, needed a better way to help patients get to appointments and discharge destinations. Transportation barriers were causing long waits, missed visits, and added strain on care delivery, so the health system looked for a more patient-friendly, on-demand solution using Lyft Concierge from Lyft Business.

Lyft Business implemented Lyft Concierge across SCL Health’s Denver care sites and later expanded it to hospitals and outpatient settings in Colorado and Montana. The program helped reduce wait times, improve patient experience, and provide better value than taxi vouchers, while also supporting appointment adherence and access to care; early feedback showed a positive trend in cancellations and no-shows.
