West Yellowstone TBID, the tourism district for West Yellowstone, Montana, needed a reliable way to monitor a remote reservoir and surrounding area, track snowfall and snowmelt, and provide a durable live webcam for its website in harsh mountain conditions. With no nearby electrical or infrastructure and the need for remote pan, zoom, and tilt control, they turned to LVT and its camera solution.
LVT deployed one Omni mobile trailer at Hebgen Lake and enabled live viewing through a desktop- and mobile-accessible portal with remote camera control. The result was a dependable embedded livestream that became the top-visited page on the tourism website, helped create annual snow and snowmelt time lapses, and performed reliably in extreme weather ranging from 4.8°F to 72.9°F with about 150 inches of average snowfall.
