Secure Digital Communication Solution for Next-Generation Express Trains

Luxoft worked with Leading Operating System, a provider of operating system software for train network devices, to design a robust communications solution for a new fleet of express trains. The challenge was to support separate infotainment, CCTV, and WiFi audio/video/data streams while ensuring redundancy both within individual wagons and across the train network.

Luxoft implemented an MSTP-based communications solution combined with a proprietary Redundant Coupling Protocol, enabling multiple redundancy protocols to run in parallel across the onboard topology. The result was faster failover and greater reliability, with switchover times under 3 seconds and recovery times of up to 50 seconds, helping reduce downtime, support predictive maintenance, and improve passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
