Prosper launches an inclusive economic dashboard with LunarLab

Prosper, a nonprofit focused on economic development in Birmingham, AL, needed to improve its newly created Birmingham Economic Dashboard before its public release. The initial design made data difficult to interpret, buried the dashboard behind too many clicks, and failed to clearly communicate the project's core goals. To address these challenges, Prosper engaged vendor LunarLab for UX and UI design services to overhaul the dashboard's storytelling and visualizations.

LunarLab's solution involved consolidating the landing and goals pages into a single, WordPress-based page for better SEO and clarity. For the dashboard itself, they redesigned the data presentation by replacing a discrete dropdown with prominent tabs, converting vertical charts to horizontal ones for readability, and introducing a stacked bar graph to allow for direct data comparisons. The work by LunarLab provided Prosper with a more intuitive and transparent public tool to track community progress against its economic goals.
