The Linux Foundation Saves Over $450k On Healthcare Costs

The Linux Foundation, a San Francisco–based non-profit with about 80 employees, was spending more than $1.2M annually on employee health care and needed to migrate off its PEO to optimize health plans, rein in rising costs, and regain control of payroll and HR administration. To address this, The Linux Foundation engaged Lumity, Inc. to support the PEO migration and redesign benefits.

Lumity, Inc. applied its proprietary risk model and data-driven enrollment software to uncover pricing discrepancies, negotiate lower premiums and a wider-network plan, and simplify employee enrollment and HSA setup. The results: $450,000 saved on health plans, an additional $100,000 saved in PEO licensing redirected to HSA contributions, HSA adoption surged from 6% to over 80%, Lumity delivered an apples-to-apples 37% savings, and a further 10% projected rate reduction in year two—freeing funds for hiring.
