Whizz-Kids - Customer Case Study

Whizz-Kidz, a UK charity, needed to stabilise after a period of rapid expansion and contraction driven by Big Lottery funding. The organisation was facing high staff turnover, low morale, weak internal communication and siloed working, while new leadership was trying to create more discipline, structure and sustainability across services and fundraising. Lumina Learning was brought in to help understand the workforce and support engagement and development.

Lumina Learning linked an engagement survey to Lumina Spark, gave senior staff one-to-one debriefs on their Spark Portraits, ran workshops and team sessions, and supported the rollout of Workplace by Facebook and a “Lumina Lessons” group to embed learning across the charity. The interventions improved collaboration, communication and leadership understanding, with survey scores rising significantly: good team spirit increased from 65.1% to 89.1%, teams working well together from 44.5% to 73.1%, and confidence that survey action would be taken from 40.3% to 65.7%. Commitment to doing the very best rose from 97.5% to 100%, and the Board gave highly positive feedback, even suggesting Whizz-Kidz enter The Times Best Non-Profits to Work For.
