Case Study: NG Bailey boosts leadership confidence and performance with Lumina Learning

A Lumina Learning Case Study

Preview of the NG Bailey Case Study

Sparking a LEAP forward in leadership training within NG Bailey

NG Bailey, the UK’s largest independent engineering, construction, and services company, needed to strengthen leadership skills across the business. Managers were respected for their technical knowledge, but employee feedback, audits, and focus groups showed gaps in people management, including difficulty with one-to-ones and challenging conversations. Lumina Learning was brought in to support this need with its Lumina Spark-based leadership development approach.

Lumina Learning developed the LEAP (Leadership, Engagement And Performance) programme for new and existing line managers, combining a two-day workshop, e-learning modules, role play with professional actors, and Spark Portraits to build self-awareness and a common language for leadership. The results included 600 line managers trained in the first 12 months, an average evaluation score of 3.7 out of 4, a 15% increase in performance review completion to 87%, and a 24% boost in participants’ confidence in communication, recognising others’ styles, and adapting their approach. NG Bailey also reported improved handling of conduct and performance issues, better team relationships, and improved absence and sickness reporting, with demand to extend the programme further.
