ELCA Conducts Instant Electronic Elections

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America needed an electronic voting solution for its 2013 Churchwide Assembly that could handle more than 80 motion votes and seven elections for about 1,000 voting members. It also wanted a microphone queuing and speaker identification system so members could be identified as speaking for or against motions.

Lumi provided 1,000 voting handsets, Election software, and on-site support to manage the voting and queueing process. The system let members vote from their seats, supported multiple rounds of elections, and customized the speaker queue to display names in almost real time. ELCA said the electronic voting was reliable and effective, and that Lumi’s setup reduced waiting time and improved the speed of voting and speaking.
