A Lumesse Case Study
SES, a world-leading telecommunications satellite operator with over 40 satellites and about 2,000 employees, faced the challenge of running consistent talent and performance processes across a geographically dispersed workforce and a decentralised HR team (36 HR staff across three service centres). As the company sought expansion into markets like eastern Europe and Africa, it needed a way to identify employees willing and able to relocate, spot skill gaps, and replace an underused, inflexible legacy talent system.
SES implemented Lumesse Talent Management—an integrated, user-friendly, self-service solution customised to SES workflows and reinforced with executive buy-in and a communication campaign. The system was rolled out company-wide with full HR training, driving rapid adoption (using 90% of the new system versus 5% of the old), creating a searchable skills database, enabling quick identification of specialists (e.g., a Russian-speaking technician), and providing reporting for skills, performance and succession planning. The result: faster, data-driven recruitment and development, clearer links between performance and compensation, improved continuity planning, and a stronger return on investment.
