Case Study: Seattle Seahawks achieve faster, more reliable stadium connectivity with Lumen network and Vyvx solutions

A Lumen Case Study

Preview of the Seattle Seahawks Case Study

Upgrading the Seattle Seahawks network infrastructure to improve the fan experience

The Seattle Seahawks worked with Lumen to modernize the network infrastructure at Lumen Field as rising data demands strained their legacy Wi‑Fi, server, storage, and live-broadcast capabilities. With nearly 70,000 fans on game days and growing expectations for seamless connectivity, the team needed a faster, more resilient network backbone and better support for data-intensive stadium operations.

Lumen implemented a phased upgrade that included replacing the stadium backbone with 10 Gbps fiber circuits, adding hardware under the seats to expand Wi‑Fi coverage, and using MPLS/IP VPN for failover and virtualization across locations. Lumen also delivered Vyvx Solutions to support live broadcasting with lower latency and more reliable distribution. The result was improved application performance, support for more devices with fewer bottlenecks, and the ability to handle an average of over 6 TB of data per game, with data use expected to grow at least 10% annually.
