Scalable mesh delivery accelerates primetime television & sporting events for European media giant TF1

TF1, the leading private-sector broadcaster in France, needed a more scalable and profitable way to deliver its growing streaming and video-on-demand services as audience numbers and content volumes expanded. As its MYTF1 platform reached more than 24 million users and prepared for international growth and higher-bitrate video formats, TF1 turned to Lumen and its CDN Mesh Delivery service to move beyond traditional CDN infrastructure.

Lumen implemented a flexible mesh delivery architecture integrated into TF1’s video player, combining CDN delivery with peer-to-peer sources to optimize video delivery in real time. The result was the ability to scale instantly to traffic spikes 10x to 20x above average, deliver 80% of TF1’s most popular streams, and serve more than 70% of addressable traffic through the mesh network on average, all while improving performance with low rebuffering and supporting higher bitrates and immersive content.
