Everyone counts High bandwidth and MTIPS put the US Census online securely
The United States Census Bureau needed a secure, high-bandwidth way to collect and protect data from tens of millions of people as it launched the first nationwide online census. Working with Lumen, the agency sought Managed Trusted Internet Protocol Service (MTIPS) to support the massive scale and security requirements of the 2020 Census.
Lumen implemented a cloud-based MTIPS solution with secure access speeds up to 40+ Gbps, a virtual Network Operating Center for resiliency and monitoring, and four 10-gig circuits to create burst capacity. The online census launched in mid-March 2020, enabling respondents to fill out forms securely on the web and giving the Census Bureau a convenient, easy, and secure new operating model.
