Creating a platform to boost productivity and enable Industry 4.0

K+S, an independent global minerals company, needed reliable connectivity across remote sites while its core applications and data centers were centralized in Europe. Its patchwork of multiple IT providers made the network hard to manage, reduced visibility, and caused performance issues for critical processes like truck loading and explosives tracking. Lumen was selected to help address these challenges with a more consistent global network platform.

Lumen implemented a global Adaptive Network with fully managed MPLS VPN services across 200+ sites, plus Dedicated Internet Access, broadband for smaller locations, security, data center services, application performance management, and managed Riverbed appliances. The result was significantly improved latency and round-trip times, faster cloud services such as Office 365, better visibility and control, and more stable global coverage, including remote locations. K+S said the new architecture created a stronger foundation for digitization, cloud adoption, and future predictive maintenance initiatives.
