North Carolina State University (NCSU) needed a user-friendly diagramming tool to help biotechnology students think through complex topics and ethical dilemmas in classes like Metagenomics and Bioethics. The university also wanted a solution that supported collaboration and integrated with its existing Google-based environment. Lucid Software’s Lucidchart was selected to meet these needs.

With Lucidchart, NCSU students created mind maps and flowcharts using features like drag-and-drop editing, auto-layout, keyboard shortcuts, and text import/export, while collaborating in real time on the same diagrams. The result was a smoother workflow and a better way for students to organize and communicate complex ideas; students reported that the diagrams helped them see the big picture and better summarize procedures.
