US Army Reduces Meetings by 70% While Improving Overall Information Flow

The US Army worked with Lucid Meetings to improve its meeting and information-flow practices within Army Joint Force Headquarters Cyber. The challenge was to understand which meetings were truly necessary, how they fit into the broader decision-making process, and where there were gaps, redundancies, or wasted time.

Lucid Meetings supported a redesign of the Army’s Operational Management Rhythm using meeting-flow models, templates, and a 7-minute drill rollup to streamline coordination. The results were substantial: one weekly 30-person meeting was cut from four hours to 30 minutes, saving 105 staff hours per week, and the Army reduced regularly scheduled cross-group meetings from 178 to 55—about 70% fewer meetings—while also improving adaptability during the Covid-19 lockdown.
