Case Study: Deutsche Welle achieves reliable, low-latency global IP distribution with LTN Global

A LTN Global Case Study

Preview of the Deutsche Welle Case Study

Switching from satellite to IP with ease

Deutsche Welle (DW), Germany’s international broadcaster delivering journalism in 32 languages and reaching 289 million users weekly in 2021, needed to move from satellite distribution to IP and manage SRT connections at scale as online platforms became primary channels. DW engaged LTN Global and adopted the fully managed LTN Network and LTN Wave to support multicast management and large-scale SRT connectivity while integrating with DW’s existing hardware and protocols.

LTN Global implemented a multicast-enabled, low-latency LTN Network with LTN Wave and LTN Ecosystem connectors to create interoperable workflows, enabling scalable point-to-point and point-to-multipoint delivery across SRT, RIST, Zixi, RTMP and HLS. The solution improved reach and reliability, reduced reliance on costly regional satellites (replacing what would have required a minimum of three satellites), lowered distribution costs, and allowed DW to expand regional distribution, increase viewership and revenue, and future‑proof its operations.
