Case Study: Südwestrundfunk (SWR) achieves decentralized, future-proof signal distribution with LTN Global's Live Video Cloud

How SWR adjust existing, static signal workflows to ensure future-proof flexibility and scalability

Südwestrundfunk (SWR), the regional public broadcaster serving Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate with an audience reach of about 14.7 million, needed to move away from largely static SDI signal workflows to support an increasing number of live-stream destinations and ad-hoc publishing needs. To solve this, SWR adopted LTN Global’s LTN Live Video Cloud to decentralize signal distribution for publishing to third-party platforms such as Facebook Live and YouTube Live, as well as for on-site decoding across facilities.

LTN Global implemented the Live Video Cloud to ingest signals from SWR’s encoders into regional ingest points and global processing, allowing dynamic routing to multiple outputs and on-the-fly configuration via a browser interface without interrupting delivery. The solution—combined with main/backup encoder redundancy—loosened static workflows, decentralized control of publishing, and delivered a future-proof, scalable platform that enables faster adaptation to new destinations while ensuring high availability.
