A LS Retail Case Study
Destination Gotland is a Swedish ferry operator serving the mainland–Gotland route with four high-speed ships that together carry about 1.7 million passengers, 480,000 cars and extensive freight annually; each ship runs multiple daily crossings in summer and has six to nine POS terminals for food, beverage and retail. After 17 years on the same retail system the supplier was acquired and the product went end-of-life, so the company needed a modern POS and management solution that could handle complex communications and payment replication across ships and shore systems.
Destination Gotland selected LS Nav, implemented by partner Aponsa, and completed the rollout and staff training on all four ships in a record timeline (first ship in 11 weeks, full deployment in 12 weeks). The new system delivered stronger control of logistics between shore and ship warehouses, tighter inventory management, improved reporting and consolidation, and stable, transaction‑heavy POS performance during the busy summer season — outcomes the company and partner described as highly satisfactory.
