PetroSA improves HSE management across all business units with LRQA

PetroSA, the national oil company of South Africa, sought to implement a single, group-wide Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management system aligned to international standards. A key challenge was driving stronger workforce engagement with HSE issues. They chose the vendor LRQA to help develop a new HSE management system and drive cultural change within the organisation.

LRQA developed a new HSE management system framework with twelve standards, overlaid onto PetroSA's existing processes to ensure integration. Following a gap analysis, LRQA helped implement new corporate standards and provided extensive training programs. The results for PetroSA included enhanced visibility of HSE risks, greater staff awareness and engagement, and a consistent, embedded approach to HSE management across all business units for the first time.
