A LRQA Case Study
BAM Nuttall, a civil engineering contractor, sought to formalize and improve its long-standing approach to collaborative working. While experienced in partnerships and joint ventures, the company noticed inconsistencies and a rising demand from clients for proven collaborative capabilities, as defined by the BS 11000 standard. They appointed vendor LRQA to help achieve corporate certification to this standard, aiming to embed its principles across all operations.
LRQA implemented a two-stage certification process, providing an external assessment that challenged BAM Nuttall's systems and identified key areas for improvement, such as enhancing two-way dialogue with its supply chain. As a result, BAM Nuttall successfully achieved company-wide certification to BS 11000, becoming the first in its sector to do so. The process, facilitated by LRQA, brought rigor and fresh perspectives, driving continual improvement and providing a consistent framework for all collaborative projects.
