Troy Design & Manufacturing Company Heightens Data Collection Accuracy With Lowry Solutions’ Realtime Rfid Tracking And Automation

Troy Design and Manufacturing Co. partnered with Lowry Solutions to solve a growing tracking challenge at its new Chicago Modification Center, where it needed to convert more than 150 Ford vehicles per day into police interceptors. Its manual, paper-based process and barcode-only approach were not efficient enough to provide the real-time visibility and automation required for vehicle receipt-to-completion tracking.

Lowry Solutions implemented a real-time RFID vehicle tracking system using Lowry Work-In-Process software integrated with Motorola FX9500 fixed RFID readers, AN200 RFID antennae, and related scanning tools. The solution improved data accuracy, streamlined operations, and gave TDM real-time visibility into vehicle movement and production status; test results showed RFID scans saved 5-7 seconds per work station compared with barcode scans, and more than 90% of operations became automated by RFID.
