Education Charity Action Tutoring Embrace Digital To Train And Upskill Thousands Of Volunteer Tutors

Action Tutoring is a national education charity that recruits and trains volunteer English and maths tutors to support disadvantaged pupils. Faced with the pandemic-driven need to deliver online tutoring and train roughly 800 volunteers in a matter of months—but without the staff capacity to run large live sessions—Action Tutoring turned to Looop’s learning platform to deliver scalable, self-paced training.

Using Looop, Action Tutoring built a compulsory pathway of 14 resources (quizzes, PDFs and demonstration videos), and used Looop’s Analytics and Campaigns to monitor completion and trigger automated reminders. The Looop-powered approach has trained over 2,500 volunteer tutors since September 2020, produced high engagement and completion rates, and enabled the charity to roll out additional optional pathways and a growing resource library to further upskill tutors.
