Increasing Profitability and Efficiency with the SafePoint® Retail Cash Handling Solution

Sonic Automotive, one of the largest auto retailers in the U.S., needed a safer, more efficient way to handle cash across more than 100 locations. Its existing process relied on employee bank deposits and multiple armored car services, creating risk of theft and injury, operational bottlenecks, and costly late fees and pickup charges. Sonic Automotive turned to Loomis and its SafePoint® smart safe solution to address these cash-handling challenges.

Loomis implemented the SafePoint Series 4 smart safes across Sonic Automotive locations, along with armored transportation and the Loomis Direct online dashboard for account visibility. The solution reduced daily bank trips, improved cash accuracy, added counterfeit detection, and cut armored car pickups from daily service to about once every ten days. Sonic Automotive also consolidated its banking and armored car relationships, lowered expenses, and said the safes would pay for themselves within five years, while improving safety, productivity, and profitability.
